Iran’s Foreign Minister Consults with Turkey, Iraq, and Egypt on Halting Attacks Against Lebanon

Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, in separate phone calls with his Turkish, Iraqi, and Egyptian counterparts, emphasized the necessity of a complete halt to Israel’s destabilizing attacks against Lebanon. He also reminded of the United States’ responsibility to implement the recent memorandum of understanding.
On Monday, June 15, following the finalization of the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the US aimed at ending the war, Araqchi spoke with Hakan Fidan, Fouad Hussein, and Badr Abdel-Aati. During these calls, the process and provisions of the memorandum, known as the “Islamabad” agreement, were discussed and reviewed.
The head of Iran’s diplomacy highlighted the US role in enforcing this agreement and called for the complete cessation of Israeli attacks on Lebanon, stressing the importance of de-escalating tensions in the region. He also expressed gratitude for the positions of Turkey, Iraq, and Egypt in supporting the ceasefire and diplomatic efforts to strengthen regional stability.
According to Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the foreign ministers of the four countries emphasized continuing close consultations on regional developments and enhancing diplomatic cooperation to maintain peace and security.
Meanwhile, Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Deputy for Legal and International Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced early today that the latest proposed revisions by Iran to the memorandum of understanding have been accepted and the document has been finalized. He noted that the memorandum is scheduled to be signed in Switzerland on Friday, June 19.
